Palm Beach County’s Luxury Golf and Country Clubs: How They Work, What They Cost and How to Join

Palm Beach County’s Luxury Golf and Country Clubs: How They Work, What They Cost and How to Join

Palm Beach County has some of the most sought-after private golf clubs in the country, from Seminole in Juno Beach to new clubs such as Panther National and Dutchman’s Pipe, but almost none publish their fees, and the way you join depends on the club’s type: a home purchase, an invitation, or a capped membership. This guide explains the types of club, profiles notable clubs from Jupiter to Boca Raton, covers what has been reported about costs, and lists the questions to ask, as of October 31, 2026.

Facts come from each club’s own website or from established press, as dated below. Fees and terms change; always read the club’s membership plan and bylaws before you commit. This is general information, not legal or financial advice.

The Five Types of Club

Type How it works Examples
Tied to home ownership You must own a home in the community to join Boca West, Polo Club of Boca Raton
Member-owned (equity) Members own the club; an elected board governs it Boca West, Admirals Cove
Invitation or introduction You cannot apply cold; members oversee selection Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club, Dutchman’s Pipe
Capped private club A fixed number of memberships, often with homes Panther National, Old Palm
Resort club A resort sells club memberships alongside its hotel The Boca Raton, PGA National

What It Costs

None of the clubs we checked publish an initiation fee or dues on their public websites. Boca West Country Club, for example, says only that membership requires “payment of certain fees and costs.” The figures that have been reported publicly for named Palm Beach County clubs are from 2024:

  • Panther National: memberships “start with an initial $500,000 payment and an annual fee of around $30k,” with homeowners paying $400,000 up front, Golf Digest reported in March 2024.
  • Dutchman’s Pipe: initiation fees of $300,000 to $350,000, the Palm Beach Post reported in April 2024.

Nationally, Golf Digest reported in May 2025 that the median private-club initiation fee had risen to $56,000, from $25,000 before the pandemic. Expect the top Palm Beach County clubs to sit far above that, and ask for current figures in writing.

Notable Clubs, North to South

Jupiter and Juno Beach

  • Seminole Golf Club, Juno Beach. A Donald Ross course opened in 1930 and a perennial Golf Digest Top 100 course. Its website is a members-only login, and it publishes no membership information. A restoration led by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner rebuilt the front nine in 2025, with the back nine following in 2026, Golf Course Architecture reported.
  • The Bear’s Club, Jupiter. Founded by Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, with a Jack Nicklaus course. In 2022 a broker told The Real Deal that buyers there had to wait two years to play golf.
  • Admirals Cove, Jupiter. 45 holes and a private marina; LINKS Magazine describes the club as member-owned.
  • The Loxahatchee Club, Jupiter. A Jack Nicklaus “members’ course” opened in 1984, according to Nicklaus Design.

Palm Beach Gardens

  • Panther National. A club “reserved for 300 members,” with a course by Jack Nicklaus and Justin Thomas and a par-3 short course. Its website lists estate homes from $5,690,000 and homesites from $2,095,000. The club and its housing development were sold in July 2026, Commercial Observer reported, so ask whether the 2024 membership terms reported above still apply.
  • Old Palm Golf Club. A residential golf community with a Raymond Floyd signature course, Golf Course Architecture reported, and “as few as 330 members,” according to the club.
  • BallenIsles Country Club. Three championship courses.
  • Frenchman’s Creek Beach & Country Club. 36 holes and a beach club in Juno Beach.
  • PGA National Resort. 99 holes, including the Champion course, home of the PGA TOUR’s Cognizant Classic. The resort serves both members and guests, and was bought in January 2025 by Henderson Park with Salamander and South Street Partners.

West Palm Beach

  • Dutchman’s Pipe Club. The former Banyan Cay course, a Jack Nicklaus Signature design of 7,300 yards from the tips, with membership “by private introduction.” Co-owner Access Industries called it “West Palm Beach’s first new private golf club in 25 years” in July 2024; in July 2026 the club announced bunker, drainage and landscaping upgrades.
  • The Club at Ibis. 54 holes by Jack Nicklaus, Jack Nicklaus II and Steve Nicklaus. The club cites a “$60 million-plus Capital Investment Plan,” and a multi-year campus overhaul began in August 2026, Florida YIMBY reported.
  • Trump International Golf Club, West Palm Beach. A private 27-hole Jim Fazio design opened in 1999, on land leased from Palm Beach County.

Central Palm Beach County

  • NOKOSI. A new “strictly private” club from the Nicklaus family and TWG Global on the former Sherbrooke Golf & Country Club site, with Jack Nicklaus designing the course and play expected in late 2026, according to the May 2026 announcement.

Delray Beach and Gulf Stream

  • Gulf Stream Golf Club. A private Donald Ross design from 1924, renovated by Pete Dye in 2012–13, The Coastal Star reported.
  • Delaire Country Club. About 325 residences, with walk-on golf and no tee times, according to the club, and 27 holes, according to the Boca Raton Observer.
  • Mizner Country Club. A private, gated golf community developed by Toll Brothers, originally an Arnold Palmer Signature course, renovated in 2016.
  • Addison Reserve. A 653-acre gated community with 27 holes by Arthur Hills.

Boca Raton

  • Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. Membership is “by exclusive invitation with candidate selection process overseen by our Members,” with “no residency requirements.” A Jack Nicklaus Signature course and a 60-slip marina.
  • The Boca Raton Club. The private club of The Boca Raton resort. Its course closed on April 7, 2026 for a rebuild of more than $25 million by Brian Silva, returning it toward its 1926 Donald Ross roots, with reopening expected in late fall 2026.
  • Boca West Country Club. Member-owned since 1991. Membership requires owning a home in Boca West, sponsorship by a current member and a vetting process that includes an interview.
  • The Polo Club of Boca Raton. Two championship courses. Golf and racquets memberships are 10-year commitments “as long as you own a home within the Polo Club.”
  • Broken Sound Club. Its Old Course, with Rees Jones’s 2022 work, hosted the PGA TOUR Champions season opener for 17 straight years, from 2007 to 2023.
  • St. Andrews Country Club. A resident-only club with two 18-hole courses, according to a 2013 club release.

How Joining Usually Works

  1. Buy the house first, where membership is tied to the home (Boca West, the Polo Club).
  2. Find a sponsor. Many clubs require sponsorship by current members and an interview.
  3. Wait. Waiting lists vary; in 2022 brokers told The Real Deal of waits from two years to “indefinite” at some clubs.
  4. Read the refund rules. At some clubs, part of a membership deposit is refunded only when a resigned member is replaced by a new one, at replacement ratios “from 1:1 to 5:1,” and resigned members can wait “many years,” according to a Greenberg Traurig legal note. Terms vary by club.

Questions to Ask Before You Join

  1. Is membership mandatory with this home, optional, or by invitation only?
  2. What is the current initiation fee or equity contribution, and what part is refundable, and when?
  3. How long is the waiting list for my membership class?
  4. What are the annual dues, food-and-beverage minimums and capital assessments, and what projects are planned?
  5. Who owns the club: the members, a developer or a resort owner, and what happens if it is sold?
  6. If I buy a home with membership, what do I pay at closing?
  7. What sponsorship, interviews or board approvals are required, and how long do they take?
  8. Is the course closing for renovation, and what reciprocal access applies meanwhile?

The Bottom Line

In Palm Beach County, the club often comes with the house, and the right club narrows the right neighborhood. Decide what kind of membership you want, ask for current fees and refund terms in writing, and plan your home search around it.
